Malaysian retailer hunting brands

Leather goods retailer MESB is on the hunt for brands to acquire.

MESB Bhd says it plans to acquire more brands that could add to its existing Alain Delon, Pierre Cardin and Pierre Balmain.

The company is bullish after its revenue increased 13 per cent in the last financial year.

“We did very well during the last year and our shareholders are asking whether the successful year’s results would reflect on the share market price of the company on the stock market,” said ED Ricky Ng Chee Leong.

The company is also expecting good trading conditions to continue in line with the anticipated six per cent growth of the retail industry in 2013.

While the falling value of the ringgit has increased the import price of goods, Leong says it will not alter its strategy on its core retail business.
