Sweden’s Uma boosts Vietnam presence

Swedish furniture retailer Uma has opened its eighth Vietnam store, in Ho Chi Minh City.

The store is located inside the Big C supermarket in Phu Nhuan District. The store focuses on Swedish design with a taste of Vietnamese furniture design.

“It is seven years since we started up in Hanoi and I am happy to say that we since then have been successful with our shops and the good design,” said Uma Vietnam CEO August Wingardh.

According to Swedish ambassador to Vietnam, Camilla Mellander, Uma represents a successful cooperation between Swedish and Vietnamese businesses that is expected to further develop in the future.

The Swedish furniture chain is slated to open its ninth store in the country in southern Binh Duong Province.

Uma’s Vietnam business is a 50:50 joint venture between Swedish and local partners.
