The ‘Community store’ is becoming a popular format among Chinese retailers.
Renrenle plans to open community stores which are more popular than hypermarkets among senior citizens and working people.
Besides hypermarkets, Renrenle also operates supermarkets and department stores.
“The company achieved profitability this year owning to costs and expenditures reduction, we should have new development strategy if we want to get through the retailing-slow-growth period,” said a company’s insider.
CR-Vanguard, which operates around 450 supermarkets in Hong Kong and mainland China, also plans to open 50 community stores in Guangzhou.
