Canadian jeweller Maison Birks plans to open its first store in China in Beijing early next year.

Canada’s jewellery market is becoming more competitive as other retailers flock and expand there. LVMH-owned De Beers will be opening its first Canada store in Vancouver, so is French jeweller Cartier which also plans Canadian expansion.

Hence, Maison Birks is expanding globally to seek further growth outside its home market.

Parent Birks & Mayors operates 31 Maison Birks in Canada and 20 stores in the US under the Mayors brand.
