Thai cake chain to expand offshore

Thai cake and desserts retailer Kyo Roll En plans to open shops in other Asean countries over the next few years.

It says Singapore and Indonesia are potential markets due to consumers’ increasing purchasing power.

Also, Singapore’s growing tourist arrivals and Indonesians’ palate which is similar to that of Thais, are viable reasons for the company to expand there, says CEO Litti Kewkacha.

The retailer plans to forge partnerships with local companies to facilitate expansion.

It also plans to expand its domestic presence from three currently to 15 by 2015.

Owner Kacha Brothers Co is also planning to expand its portfolio of brands which include Sfree, Sfree Dessert Express, Parferio and Aldy’s Coffee Lite.

“Our strategy is to develop our own dessert brand, but we’ll buy licenses or form joint ventures for food brands,” said Kewkacha.
