Haier China’s ‘most valuable brand’

Appliance brand Haier, valued at 99.3 billion yuan ($16.22 billion), is China’s most valuable brand.

That’s according to the 19th ‘China’s Most Valuable Brands’ report, the longest running annual research project on brand values of Chinese companies. It is a joint project by Ruifu Global Ranking Group and Beijing Famous Brands Property Assessment.

The report reveals that the average brand value of top 100 brands has reached 21.41 billion yuan ($3.5 billion), growing 10-fold compared to the same ranking in 1995.

Haier saw 40-fold growth in brand value during the same period.

The report says Haier has poured resources into integrating and maximising its global technology know-how and market resources and in fostering the development of five global research and development centres.

As a result, Haier continues to win consumer awareness in the worldwide marketplace.

Market strategy research company Euromonitor International has also ranked Haier as the number one major appliance brand in the world for the fourth straight year, with an 8.6 per cent retail volume share in 2012.
