Timbuk2 opens in Singapore

Timbuk2, the San Francisco bag company and pioneer of mass customisation, has opened its first store outside the US in Singapore.

The company has partnered with Philippine-based Primer Group to open a retail store in Singapore, which offers in-store customisation.

Located at Bugis Junction, the first store spans 280 sqft. The space showcases 75 per cent of its product line of more than 100 styles of bags and accessories and an interactive custom station where customers can design a one-of-a-kind or accessory made to order in the Timbuk2 San Francisco factory.

The store design has been influenced by Timbuk2’s bike heritage, including a custom bag builder experience identical to those found in Timbuk2’s US stores. The custom bag builder area features a computer touch screen customisation experience, swatches of fabrics and samples of bag styles for customers to use as an inspiration as they build their own bags.

Once a custom bag order is placed, it will be sewn at Timbuk2’s factory in San Francisco and can be in Singaporean customer’s hands in two weeks.

“As we continue expanding our presence overseas, customisation will remain a central facet of the Timbuk2 experience,” said CEO Mike Wallenfels.

Established in 1989, Timbuk2 offers messenger bags, backpacks, laptop bags, luggage and accessories. Timbuk2’s first flagship store opened in San Francisco in 2006 and a second US store was opened in Seattle in May 2013.
