India’s DLF Mall wins accolade

DLF Mall of India, has won the prestigious jury award ‘Retail Rising Star’ 2013 at the MAPIC event in Cannes, France.

This is the first time an Indian mall is rewarded at MAPIC and DLF Mall’s management hail it as “real international recognition amongst the international retail property community”, coming at an event involving retailers, retail brands and developers from 70 countries.

DLF Mall of India, the largest commercial real estate developer in India, says the 1.9 million sqft retail destination was one of four projects awarded the ‘Retail Rising Star’ jury award. The other three were in China, Brazil, and Russia.

MAPIC is a key meeting point for global retailers and developers showcasing the best projects from all over the world and acknowledging the premium innovative and out of league projects in various categories like city and shopping centres, factory outlets, leisure areas and transit zones.

This year the summit marked the presence of 8200 unique participants, 2430 retailers, 400 new retail brands, 730 exhibiting companies from 70 countries all over the world representing 1400 brands and 335 investment companies.

“DLF Mall of India is the largest retail project to date and it is an ode to the dynamic Indian retail industry. Like all other DLF malls, this is poised to be a family destination offering not just shopping, but an unforgettable experience through unique tenant mix consisting of leading international and Indian fashion, entertainment and dining brands,” said Pushpa Bector, DLF Mall’s senior VP and head of leasing and mall management.

DLF Mall of India is modelled after best in class international flagship properties and is an eclectic ensemble of retail offerings spread across six levels of retail experience with zones clearly defined as Market Place, International Boulevard, The High Street, Family World and Leisure Land.

The mall would add many firsts to its portfolio such as: more than 475 retail units, coupled with the largest indoor entertainment city spread over two levels – which would have seven DT star screens and the largest food court with over 1200 seats.

Another first for the project would be the presence of over 73 escalators and an express escalator to provide convenience and comfort while shopping.

DLF Mall of India is scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2014.
