American Eagle Outfitters eyes Thailand

US apparel retailer American Eagle Outfitters is strengthening its presence in Asia, expanding into Thailand.

American Eagle Outfitters has partnered with Pacifica Lifestyle to open stores in Thailand next year.

Thailand is part of its strategy to ramp up international presence to offset the tight competition and uncertainty in its home market.

The company operates more than 1000 stores in the US, Canada, Mexico, China and Hong Kong, and ships to 81 countries worldwide through its websites.

It also has licensed stores in 12 countries including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Russian Federation, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Israel, Japan, Poland and the Philippines.

In 2014, the company expects to open approximately 40 additional licensed stores.
