Tim Hortons eyes India

Canadian fast casual restaurant Tim Hortons plans to enter India, reports say.

Tim Hortons, a coffee and doughnut chain, was founded in Ontario and now has 4350 cafes around the world.

Source says Tim Hortons is currently seeking a partner to open cafes in India.

“Over the last four to five months, the Canadian cafe chain has been speaking to several people regarding a franchise agreement. They are yet to finalise on a partner but talks are in progress,” said the source.

Tim Hortons did not confirm the news, but in 2010, it said it will explore new markets like China and India to boost growth.

India’s organised coffee market is expected to boom to become Rs2222 crore (around US$410 million) industry by 2017.
