Coffee Bean in Malaysian expansion

American coffee chain Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is to open 12 new outlets in Malaysia next year.

The new outlets will add to an existing network of 50.

“We’re now looking at new towns. Economic spending in Malaysia is not confined to the urban areas anymore. The next locations for us are Ipoh and Cyberjaya,” said director of marketing and development Fiona Rodrigues.

Coffee Bean has just started table service in Malaysia, with an in-house chef to expand its food offering.

Rodrigues said they want to cater to different customer’s needs.

“The customer there are mostly health-conscious and want something that they can grab and go, so we have food such as healthy wraps in our menu,” she said.

The cafe also constantly innovate by introducing new beverages every year, said Rodrigues.
