Vietnam to fine unregistered e-businesses

Vietnam’s government will impose fine up to VND100 million (US$4750) to unregistered e-commerce businesses this year.

Currently, only 200 retail websites and more than 100 others offering e-commerce services are registered in Vietnam, said Ministry of Industry and Trade’s E-commerce and Information Technology Department

Aside from the fine, unregistered websites will be suspended for six to 12 months as well.

Online shopping in Vietnam is gaining more and more ground arising from Internet use. In 2013, data showed 18 million Vietnamese have shopped online, spending US$2.7 billion.
