7-Eleven Philippines hits milestone

Convenience chain 7-Eleven has opened its 1000th store in the Philippines.

The store is located at the Greenfield District in Mandaluyong City.

Philippine operator, Philippine Seven Corp, plans to continue expanding the chain in the country to take advantage of the robust economic growth. It says it will double its network to 2000 over the next three to four years.

“By the end of this year, we plan to open 300 more stores, Quite a few of them will be in the Visayas. We crossed over to Cebu two years ago. It’s challenging because of the islands but the reception we got was good,” said PhilSeven president and CEO Victor Paterno.

The Philippines, one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, is experiencing a growing BPO (Business process outsourcing) industry, fuelling the convenience stores’ growth.

“BPOs are very important part of our business. They are very good customers because they are 24/7,” Paterno said.
