Starbucks to hit Japan’s Tottori Prefecture

Japan’s least populous prefecture, Tottori, will soon have an Starbucks outlet.

The American coffee chain plans to expand to the only prefecture where it has no outlet yet by 2015.

The plan is part of Starbucks’ goal to have outlets in every part of the nation after hitting the 1000-store milestone last year, reached 17 years after its debut in 1996.

Starbucks Japan is a joint venture between US’ Starbucks and Japanese retailer and restaurateur, Sazaby Incorporated.

The chain’s expansion plan is not only limited to Japan. In June, it said it will open 100 new stores in Malaysia over the next four years and 100 in India in 2014. It also plans to expand massively in China to make the market its second largest after the US. It is also starting to roll out in Vietnam.
