Aesop unveils new Hong Kong store

Australian cosmetics brand Aesop has opened its ninth store in Hong Kong at Elements shopping mall.

The store marries traditional materials and techniques with orderly contemporary design.

Slotted timber is used for the shopfront and ceiling. Along the left side of the entry way, it morphs gently into a plaster seating bench that offers a gesture of welcome to passers-by, while also effecting aesthetic balance.

The off-white built-in plaster shelving was hand-crafted on site. Hand-treated perforated brass features on the entry frame and point-of-sale countertop, providing not only a textural variation but a refined focal point.

Aesop was established in Melbourne in 1987 with a quest to create a range of products for the skin, hair and body. It has offices and stores in many parts of the world, including New York, London, Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
