New online player launches in Singapore

Online retailer Sosoon has joined the ranks of Singapore’s online retailers.

Sosoon currently offers more than 15,000 products in seven main categories, and will add groceries and books in the near future. It operates a 25,000 sqft warehouse near Changi Airport and already plans to add another 12,500 sqft of warehousing space to meet growing demand.

The online shop is managed by Uitox Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Uitox Group in Taiwan.

Sosoon offers 14-day free returns picked up from the doorstep, and free delivery on purchases over S$40 (US$32).

It also promises to compensate its customers with a S$10 (US$8) voucher for future purchases if it is unable to deliver within 24 hours. Newly registered users will also be given a S$10 (US$8) credit voucher to spend as part of their first purchase.

“We want to rock the online retail game here in Singapore and change the infrastructure and customer mindset by committing to delivery in 24 hours for all our customers,” said Robert Van Lith, GM of Uitox.

E-retail has been gaining traction in Singapore, with growing confidence in the security of online payments and trust in delivery performance and quality of products. On top of this, rising lease costs have also been putting a dent in the viability and service of many bricks-and-mortar retailers.
