Index Living Mall expands

Thai furniture retailer Index Living Mall is investing 2.3 billion baht to expand upcountry.

Index Living Mall is opening in three new shopping complexes in the provinces – the first in February in Nakhon Sawan province.

The Nakhon Sawan complex is a community mall called The Walk, with Index Living Mall and a Tesco Lotus hypermarket as anchors. The 18,000 sqm shopping complex expects a footfall of 10,000 a day.

The next openings will be in Nakhon Ratchasima in May and Pattaya in the fourth quarter.

“With these highly competitive conditions, the tendency is to slow down our expansion plans in the capital and shift to primary and secondary provinces that have promising, growing economies,” said Ekalak Patamasatayasonthi, VP for business development.

Index Living Mall also plans to continue expand into new overseas markets including Malaysia and Indonesia.

Besides Thailand, Index Living Mall is currently in Dubai, Nepal, Maldives, Northern Cyprus and Vietnam.
