Gloria Jean’s to end partnership

Landmark Group and Australian coffee chain Gloria Jean’s are likely to break their seven year partnership in India.

Dubai-based Landmark, through its subsidiary Citymax, operates around 30 Gloria Jean’s stores in India. The subsidiary also runs the Krispy Kreme brand in India.

But Gloria Jean’s is reportedly losing money due to rising rental costs and tougher competition.

The report comes on the heels of British coffee chain Costa Coffee’s plan to terminate its partnership with Delhi-based Devyani International and Lavazza’s plan to seek buyer for its Barista chain in India.

Meanwhile, Starbucks, having entered India in October 2012, has already opened 42 stores in the country and is planning to roll out more stores.
