Confectioner eyes Asia

Confectionery brand Mars International Travel Retail (MITR) is demonstrating its bullish outlook for Asia by opening more stores there.

MITR plans to open new stores in Kuala Lumpur and Kin Men Airport in Taiwan and will redevelop its store in Singapore’s Changi Airport.

Its strong performance in Asia Pacific last year fuels its bullish outlook for the region.

“With an ongoing mission to drive growth globally in confectionery sales, these figures highlight that MITR is well underway in achieving its ambition,” said the company.

According to marketing director Lieke Duijmelings, the new stores aim to entice both adults and children with elements of theatre and excitement.

“Getting travellers into the stores is our main objective, with confectionery being the most impulse driven category if we can attract footfall into the shop, then it is highly likely we can convert them into buyers,” says Duijmelings.
