Oak debuts in Asia

Brooklyn-based clothing retailer Oak will open its first location in Asia – in Tokyo’s Shibuya district.

Located at 1-23-25 3F Shibuya, the store will offer the retailer’s namesake Oak Collection and A.OK brands as well as a curated selection of shoes and accessories for men and women.

The 700 sqft Tokyo store sits atop parent brand American Apparel’s Shibuya women’s boutique and boasts a panoramic vista of the Japanese metropolis. Like its Manhattan, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and Paris counterparts, the Shibuya location will have its own unique personality, drawing influence from the rich history, culture, and architecture of Tokyo.

Oak, which was acquired as a division of American Apparel in the summer of 2013, also recently opened its first stores outside of New York in Paris, France and downtown Los Angeles and plans to open a second LA location on Beverly Boulevard in the coming weeks.

These new stores, utilising American Apparel’s logistics and resources, accompany Oak’s longstanding Manhattan and Brooklyn locations and a fully realised e-commerce website.
