Monki makes Malaysian debut

Swedish fashion brand Monki is expanding into Malaysia, opening its first store in Kuala Lumpur.

Located on the first level of NU Sentral, a shopping mall right next to the KL Central LRT station, the first Monki store will showcase a revamped look of Monki’s ‘Sea of Scallops’ concept, using “playful exaggerations, surprising shapes and spatially misleading levels that cause a surreal effect”.

Launched in 2006 by Swedish retailer H&M, Monki offers street-chic collections through its more than 80 stores in markets across Europe, Japan, Hong Kong and mainland China.

CEO Lea Rytz Goldman says the opening is an “an incredibly exciting opportunity for Monki and a fantastic way to continue to grow within the Asian market.”
