China’s coffee chains race to expand

Rapid growth in China’s coffee chain sector shows no signs of abating as a growing middle class develop a taste for coffee.

A new survey by China Chain Store and Franchise Association reveals 92 per cent of franchise brands plan to expand this year, reflecting rosy prospects for franchised brands across the giant nation.

The survey also found the Chinese market offers promising prospects for other franchise concepts – especially fast food, early childhood education, convenience stores, car maintenance and salons.

“In China, the demand for food, beverages and children’s education is quite strong,” said Pei Liang, secretary-general of the CCFA.
