British retailer Marks & Spencer has opened its first Indian lingerie and beauty store – at Infinity Mall, Mumbai.
The opening is part of its goal to boost profits outside the UK by 40 per cent over the next three years.
The 5000 sqft store is the first ever standalone concept in India to offer a dedicated lingerie and beauty shopping experience. Its design features feminine finishing touches including fresh flowers, wooden hangers, bespoke paper bags and luxurious tissue wrapping.
“The standalone concept we’ve unveiled capitalises on the growth opportunities in the lingerie and beauty markets in India, making our new concept stores an exciting new shopping destination in their own right,” said M&S Reliance India MD Venu Nair.
Marks & Spencer targets 100 stores across India by 2016.
