PE snaps up Chinese restaurant chain

UK-based private equity firm CVC Capital Partners has bought into Chinese restaurant chain South Beauty.

CVC is now the major shareholder in South Beauty, which offers Sichuan-style food through its 80 outlets across China. Zhang Lan, founder of South Beauty, remains a shareholder and chairwoman of the company. She will continue to play a role in setting the strategic direction of South Beauty in partnership with the CVC team.

”CVC’s vision for South Beauty highly aligns with ours in respect of brand positioning, future growth areas, corporate culture and values. More importantly, CVC’s investment will help South Beauty drive greater economies of scale and increase operational efficiency,” said Lan.

To date, CVC has completed more than 300 investments in a wide range of industries and countries across the globe, with an aggregate transaction value of over US$150 billion.
