The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf hits Japan

American coffee chain The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf will start brewing in Japan, its 25th international market.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has partnered with LA Style, a JV between fast casual restaurant operator Hotland and shopping mall developer Aeon Malls, to open outlets in Japan starting by the end of the year.

LA Style intends to grow The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s presence to 200 stores across Japan.

“This is an important milestone demonstrating our commitment to continued growth in Asia,” said The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf president and CEO John Dawson.

The expansion into Japan is the latest major announcement in the brand’s growth and expansion initiatives enacted since the appointment of John Dawson in January 2014 and following the September 2013 investment by private equity firms Advent International, CDIB Capital, and Mirae Private Equity.

The company is fast approaching 1000 stores in 24 countries.
