Barista India sold

Italian company Lavazza Spa has sold Barista Coffee to Carnation Hospitality.

New Delhi-based Carnation Hospitality has paid Lavazza Spa Rs100 crore ($16.2 million).

Barista Coffee had been struggling in the tightly competitive coffee market in India.

Carnation Hospitality, part of packaging company Rollatainers, entered the food business earlier this year when it acquired restaurant brands Kylin and Sartoria.

“We have recently expanded our food business and this is truly an exciting development for us. As part of our portfolio we are adding India’s second-largest coffee chain,” said Carnation director Sanjay Chhabra.
