Max Mara keeps China plans on track

Italian luxury fashion house Max Mara says its expansion agenda for China remains unchanged.

Max Mara, through partner GBMax, is on track to open 25 to 35 new stores in China per year to capitalise on the growing appetite for quality products.

The fashion house now has 320 stores in China, the latest recently opened in Beijing at China Central Plaza, spanning 800sqm, its largest in Asia.

The company has achieved a double-digit growth in 2013 despite the luxury gift-giving crackdown there.

It also said it will focus on increasing the turnover of its existing stores.

“We have to fight to leave room for creativity,” said Max Mara chairman Luigi Maramotti. “The business side should not be the only driver.”
