South Korean retailer Lotte is to open a supermarket in Indonesia.
The 1300 sqm Lotte supermarket will offer mostly imported and high-end products targeted at the middle and upper class expatriates living within Kenmang.
The supermarket will complement the Makro discount stores, a chain which it acquired in 2008.
“We will do our best to successfully launch the supermarket by using our six years of experience in the country,” said Kim Young-gyun, head of Lotte Mart’s Southeast Asia unit.
The opening is part of Lotte’s effort to seek growth overseas while it struggles in a subdued local market.
