McDonald’s Japan denies sourcing meat from CPF

Fast food chain McDonald’s Japan says it is not ordering meat products from Thai company Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF).

Earlier this month, CPF’s president and CEO Adirek Sripratak told Reuters that they have received orders from McDonald’s Japan after it ceased sourcing from Husi Food in Shanghai following food safety scandal.

However, McDonald’s Japan spokesman Takashi Hasegawa denies Sripratak’s announcement.

“It is not true that we have placed any orders with CPF,” he told Japan Times.

He said they will continue sourcing from their existing suppliers in Thailand – the McKey Foods Services and Cargill.
