Foodpanda expands Thai cover

Food delivery marketplace Foodpanda plans to expand its customer base in Thailand.

The marketplace, owned by Berlin-based Rocket Internet, targets 5 million users by 2016 – up from 1.5 million currently.

According to Alexander Felde, co-founder and MD of Foodpanda Thailand, the exploding adoption of smartphones and Thais’ changing lifestyles will fuel growth in restaurant food delivery business.

He said they will expand to places including Hua Hin, Pattaya and Chiang Mai and increase the portfolio of restaurants to 600 this year.

“Together with our partners Door2Door, we will be delivering deliciousness from top local restaurants right to customers in the central Pattaya, Jomtien, Na Jomtien, East Pattaya, Naklua, Bang Lamung and Mapprachan Lake areas, all at the touch of a screen or the click of a mouse,” said Felde.
