Malaysian retailer expands

Malaysia’s Mydin Mohamed Holdings plans expanding its supermarket business in the coming years.

The retailer says it will add 25 new Mydin hypermarkets over the next four years.

“I believe we can achieve over 42 hypermarkets in Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak by 2018,” said MD Datuk Dr Ameer Ali Mydin.

The company will earmark an annual investment of up to RM600 million ($185.1 million) for the expansion.

Mydin Mohamed Holdings has a total of 243 hypermarkets, emporiums, bazaars, mini-markets and grocery shops.
