Australia’s eWay enters Asia

Australian online payment gateway provider eWay is expanding its business into Asia.

It has partnered with First Data, a provider of payments technology and services solutions, to enable more Australian businesses to expand into Asia’s rapidly growing e-commerce markets.

“First Data has been working with eWay for more than 10 years in Australia, processing more than $10 billion worth of transactions and this new phase of our partnership will enable eWay and other Australian businesses to grow in this exciting region” said Marc Mathenz, senior VP and head of First Data Asia Pacific.

Mathenz says Asia is one of the world’s fastest growing markets for e-commerce revenues, with e-commerce spending in the region set to surpass half a trillion dollars ($525.5 billion) by the end of this year.

“Everyone is looking for convenience, self-service or a person to help them through the process for online commerce, depending on their needs. eWay provides all these options for merchants,” added eWay founder and CEO Matt Bullock.
