Corporate retailer to build mall network
Filipino corporate retailer Cosco plans a network of six to eight community shopping malls within three years
Cosco is best known as parent of the Puregold supermarket chain but it recently acquired Office Warehouse and owns a liquor distribution business as well.
President Leonardo Dayao said in an interview the network would be built by acquisition and organic expansion.
The malls will be branded Cosco and all will be anchored by a Puregold supermarket.
“We will be disclosing them as these are signed. They should be coming very soon,” Dayao said.
Cosco this week disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange that its subsidiary Ellimac Prime Holdings had leased a 7168sqm plot on Liwasang Kalayaan in Marikina Heights. Construction of a mall with up to 6000sqm of leasable space will start early next year.
The company has already bought NE Pacific Mall, the largest centre in Nueva Ecija.
