French fashion brand heads to China

A French fashion brand famous for childrenswear, babywear and adult clothing, is set to debut in three Chinese cities.

Petit Bateau has established a distribution partnership with Fung Retailing Ltd, part of Hong Kong-based Li & Fung group which will see it open solo branded stores.

“We are excited to be working with the experienced retail partner. They will open the doors to the Chinese market,” said Patrick Pergament, CEO of Petit Bateau.

“We are confident that Chinese mothers will quickly realise the quality of our childrenswear.”

Peter Schat, executive director of Fung Retailing, said both companies have built their reputation on their own strengths and on family values.

“Petit Bateau is an authentic and trusted brand and has a French touch. This is consistent with discerning Chinese consumers now,” he said.

Petit Bateau’s first China stores will open in Beijing, Shanghai and Qingdao in 2015 .

The French brand, founded in 1893, sells clothing for babies, children and adults in over 80 countries.
