Taiwanese pharmacy’s award-winning concept

When Asian pharmaceutical company Zuellig Pharma acquired Taiwan’s YesChain Pharmacy in 2012 as part of a strategy to build a retail pharmacy network across Asia it decided to create a whole new concept.

The goal was to create community pharmacies which could can serve as “the first resource providers” for primary healthcare solutions.

So Zuellig Pharma engaged Hong Kong’s StartJG to create a new look. And that design has just earned YesChain and StartJG a Gold Award for Best Corporate Rebrand following a merger or acquisition in the inaugural Transform Asia Pacific (APAC) awards.

StartJG created a proposition and identity for the new business by creating a pharmacy that people felt comfortable in and were able to confidently consult with the pharmacists – while simultaneously providing environments where pharmacists could “fully embrace their values of efficacy, care, trustworthiness and accuracy”.

The new brand name was Life+ and a confident new identity was created to work at a parent level across multiple sub-brands in different markets.

StartJG explains: “The pharmacy design itself was completely refreshed to accommodate the enhanced service proposition and bring the transformed brand to life.

“The new design language was implemented throughout the stores and the environment was reconfigured to ensure that the pharmacy and healthcare element became the focus.”
