Hamleys toy shop to open in Vietnam

Hamleys, the world famous British toy shop, is to open its first store in Vietnam.

An 800 sqm store will open over two levels of the newly constructed SC VivoCity shopping mall in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7, a popular enclave for expatriates and well-heeled Vietnamese. It will be Vietnam’s largest toy store and Hamley’s 56th store globally, marking its 18th international market.

For 255 years Hamleys of London has been tagged ‘The Finest Toy Shop in the World’ bringing experiences and joy to children of all ages. The company was founded by William Hamley, who dreamed of creating ‘the best toy shop in the world’ when opening the doors to his store in Holborn, London in 1760.

The Hamleys toy shop Vietnam will include thousands of quality approved toys and all Hamleys iconic features including, opportunities for children to play, engaging store design, expert service and toy demonstrations.

Hamleys’ franchise partner in Vietnam is Maison JSC, owned by Richard Trinh and Mai Son Pham. Maison distributes and sells international brands through 60 stores, from international designer labels such as Christian Louboutin, to highly recognisable high street brands like Topshop/Topman, Mango, Karen Millen, Coast, Bebe, Warehouse, Oasis, Charles & Keith, Pedro, 
Accessorize, Monsoon Children, Havaianas and NYS Sunglasses. It also plans to bring CH by Carolina Herrera, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Max Mara, Max & Co and Santoni, among others, to Vietnam’s fast growing retail market.

Maison chairman Richard Trinh said he had been working a long time to open Hamleys in Vietnam.
