Lafayette Gourmet China opens first flagship

French department store retailer Galeries Lafayette has opened its first Lafayette Gourmet China food store – in Beijing.

Lafayette Gourmet is essentially a luxury food hall serving food to consume on site or take home.

The flagship has a supermarket stocked with French gourmet foods and a 7000 sqm dining area featuring more than 10 restaurants serving international cuisines. An estimated 80 per cent of the food sold on site is imported from France.

The store is located on the fifth floor of the Galeries Lafayette department store, the company’s high profile debut property in China.

Lafayette Group department store division executive president Nicolas Houze recently hosted an opening ceremony for the new foodie destination.

According to China Retail News, the new gourmet store is the largest French imported food specialty store in the Chinese capital.
