Tokyu Bangkok has released images of its new department store opened this month.
The new store – opened some 30 years after the Japanese retailer made its debut at the MBK shopping centre in downtown Bangkok – was formally opened on June 19.
As reported by Inside Retail Asia, the new 13,000 sqm, two storey store is located in Paradise Park, a shopping centre in the city’s eastern suburbs jointly developed by MBK and Siam Piwat.
Tokyu Thailand operations are run by Paradise Retail, a 50-50 joint venture between Bangkok-Tokyu Department Store Co and Paradise Retail. CEO Takashi Hayano told The Nation newspaper the company is targeting sales of between 700 and 800 million THB in the first year of trading, or US$21 – 24 million.
Hayano, described the Tokyu Bangkok Paradise Park store as “the latest ultimate shopping
destination for perfect Japanese shopping experience targeted for shoppers in the eastern Bangkok”.
“We take into careful consideration all needs of our customers by offering mothers extra large fitting room, large enough to fit prams, resting room for toddlers with wash basins, and automated drinks vending machines. We are certain that all of the above mentioned together with other Japanese-touched services will leave our customers impressed in their every visit to Bangkok-Tokyu Department Store Paradise Park.”
We’ll let Tokyu Bangkok’s photographs demonstrate the interior style of the new department store. But in Inside Retail Asia’s view, the new store is light years ahead of the design of the tired, 30 year old MBK store.
