Hongkong Land tops out WF Central

Hongkong Land has topped out its new Beijing flagship development WF Central.
CEO Y K Pang said the topping out marked a major milestone in Hongkong Land’s business development on the Mainland.
“The design, development and future management of this complex are testament of the company’s vision and capability to create vibrant commercial districts, each with a sense of place.”
Occupying a site area of approximately 21,000 sqm, WF Central enjoys a prime location and frontage on Wangfujing St in Dongcheng District of Beijing. The complex will offer some 50,000 sqm of world-class retail, fine dining and hospitality experiences to become the next high-end shopping and lifestyle destination in Beijing.
WF Central will also house a Mandarin Oriental hotel that will enjoy majestic views of the Forbidden City.
Hongkong Land acquired the project site in 2011, after which construction commenced with a foundation laying ceremony in March 2012. Located on the prosperous Wangfujing Street, WF Central is only a stone’s throw away from the Forbidden City and the Beijing CBD. The area is well served by the capital’s public transportation and metro networks, including Wangfujing Station of Metro Line 1 and Dengshikou Station of Line 5. WF Central will also provide 660 carpark spaces upon its completion in late 2016 while the hotel is scheduled for completion in 2017.
“We are most grateful for the support of Dongcheng District government as well as our business partners and contractors,” said Pang.
“Their guidance and help, together with the group’s expertise and experience in developing high-quality projects across Asia, ensured a smooth and efficient construction process that has led us to this topping-out ceremony.”
The ceremony was officiated by Pang, Yang Liu Yin, party secretary of CPC Committee of Dongcheng District, Zhang Jia Ming, Mayor of Dongcheng District, Adam Keswick, deputy MD of Jardine Matheson, Raymond Chow, executive director of Hongkong Land and Chen Dai Hua, chairman of Beijing Urban Construction Group.
