A new Panasonic exhibition in Tokyo has created a futuristic preview of how technology will affect life – in shopping, home living and socially.
Panasonic will open a showcase that presents future lifestyles for 2020 and beyond at the Panasonic Center Tokyo, the company’s global communications hub for linking Panasonic and its customers.
Called the Wonder Life-Box, the new exhibition will be open to the public on Saturdays, Sundays and Japanese holidays from July 11.
Taking a cue from “social challenges and megatrends to come”, the Wonder Life-Box will present “a concrete vision of future lifestyles from a daily life perspective”, the company says.
It’s more than just an exhibit: Panasonic says it will develop and refine products and business models based on feedback from visitors to the centre and on work days when it is closed to the public, it will use the exhibition as a showcase to prospective business and technology partners.
The retail component is at Wonder Town, a part of the exhibition where people can obtain information about stores and products by holding their mobile phone against signage and lights around the ‘town’.
You can order products on the spot or remotely interact with technology located inside your own home. “Thus, information connects Wonder Town with a person’s home,” says Panasonic.
Another core of the exhibition is Partner, a virtual companion for your futuristic home. Partner supports daily life by assisting people via two-way communication.
“As a go-between to connect people and things in various aspects, Partner will ensure security, protecting from anxieties such as disasters, crimes and health conditions. The Partner will also facilitate sharing that strengthens bonds among people via social networking.
Other features of the exhibit:
Residential Hydrogen Infrastructure: A household energy system using environmentally-friendly, highly-efficient hydrogen enables people to secure energy at home, which provides a sense of security in any situation.
My Professional Kitchen: Through dialogue with Partner, the range of cooking can be expanded from simple recipes using the ingredients found in the refrigerator to professional-level creative dishes.
My Favorite Living: The locations and movements of family members around the home are detected automatically so that screen images may be enjoyed in various ways, such as on a tablet in hand, on a table, and on a wall surface.
Sleeping Quality Check & Comfortable Sleep Services: Every day, Partner manages the condition of your body during sleep based on data from various sensors. When you wake up, it will tell you what the weather is like and the information you clipped in the town so that you can start your day smoothly.
Smart Healthcare Navigation: Just by standing in front of the mirror, Partner will not only check the condition of your body but also understand how you feel. When you look tired, Partner will arrange uplifting lighting and background music for you.
