France’s Moncler to open in Singapore

French-founded fashion brand Moncler is to open its first Singapore store in Ion Orchard.

Moncler has about 170 stores globally and in Asia already operates in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Japan.

It more recent Asian stores in Beijing and Tokyo were designed by Gilles & Boissier

Its distinctive interior design includes French woodwork engraved with floral patterns and glazed counters.

Moncler says in the new store it will present a highly edited collection with a fashion point of view, seeking and showcasing the brand’s unique place in history and inspiring desire through extraordinary environments, creative collaborations and unique marketing programs.

The Ion Orchard store will feature the full Moncler Collection alongside its Grenoble sub label.

Moncler was founded in 1952 by René Ramillon and is best known for its down jackets and sportswear. In 2003, the brand was bought by the Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini.

The brand’s flagship store is on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris.

The Moncler name is an abbreviation of Monestier-de-Clermont, an Alpine town near Grenoble in France.
