Apple iPhone 6S to be revealed next week

Apple has invited journalists to an event next week – almost certainly a reveal of the new iPhone 6S.

Reuters reports the California-based tech company is expected to unveil the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6 Plus S – and possibly a new model of its Apple TV set-top box.

The company has ramped up production schedules of its best-selling iPhone model to record volumes suggesting a rapid rollout of the new specification globally. The company is under mounting pressure not just from archrival Samsung, but a host of fast-growing Chinese brands producing similarly specified phones with lower price tags.

Speculation about new features has been rife in recent weeks. Some sources suggest the new models will feature “force touch” technology which distinguishes between soft and firm taps on the touchscreen to create different responses.

Shannon Cross, a research analyst, said she expects a faster processor on the new models.

“We assume that they may come out with a new iPad at the event as well,” she told Reuters.
