Marina Bay Sands and its tenants are marking this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival with some unique executions of the traditional Chinese Mooncake.
Taking centre stage this year is SweetSpot’s Chewy Coconut and Cherry snow skin mooncake by Marina Bay Sands’ executive chef Christopher Christie. Inspired by his childhood favourite Bounty bar candy with chocolate and coconut, Christie’s snow skin mooncake features a white chocolate ganache centre with Malibu rum, macerated maraschino cherry and filled with candied coconut flakes, white lotus seed paste and butter cake crumbs for contrast in textures and flavours.
SweetSpot’s Salted Caramel Almond Crunch makes a return with its velvety blend of salted caramel, chocolate and crunchy almonds encased in soft snow skin. Another SweetSpot snow skin classic mooncake for chocolate lovers is the Dark Chocolate Orange Grand Marnier with dark chocolate ganache and hints of bitter orange from the liqueur.
Traditional mooncake fans will delight in the silky smooth and luxurious White Lotus Seed Paste with double egg yolks baked in a golden-hued crust.
Available from now until September 27, the mooncakes are presented in an elegant box designed to resemble a Chinese lantern that blends elements of art and tradition. They are priced from S$62 for a box of eight snow skin mooncakes to S$68 for a box of four traditional mooncakes.
