Lagardere wins HKIA contracts

Lagardere Travel Retail has won five fashion concessions at Hong Kong International Airport after a tender process.

Lagardere will operate two Pandora stores, and one each for Paul & Shark, Kate Spade and Calvin Klein. They will open progressively from the last quarter of this year until the second quarter of next.

Four of the new stores will open in the West Hall of Terminal 1 and a fifth in the new Midfield Terminal scheduled for completion late this year.

They will represent Lagardere’s first apparel stores in HKIA; to date it has only retailed travel goods and packaged foods.

“We are excited to expand our business within Hong Kong International Airport,” said Lagardere Travel Retail Hong Kong GM Louis Dambrine in a statement.

“Our 10 constructive years in operating bookshops demonstrated our ability to drive business by constantly delivering excellent customer service. We will continue to work at satisfying each traveller’s need, guaranteeing the highest quality and maximising value creation for our brands and Hong Kong International Airport.”

“We are thankful to have this opportunity to work with new brand partners such as Kate Spade and to extend our current partnership with Paul & Shark and Pandora,” added Philippe Fontalba, luxury fashion and accessories director of Lagardere Travel Retail Asia Pacific.

“We are equally excited to open the first Calvin Klein Platinum store worldwide.

“Travel retail in fashion and luxury goods will definitely continue to see growth. Airports are places where affluent tourists have time on their hands. As a result, we foresee a big increase in airport retail investment, especially in the designer apparel and luxury accessories categories.”
