Hong Kong Electronics, Lighting Fairs

The latest innovations in electronics and lighting will be on show at major fairs organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) this month.
The 35th edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) will run alongside the 19th edition of electronicAsia at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from October 13 to 16.
Meanwhile, the 17th HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) will be held at the HKCEC from October 27 to 30 while World of Outdoor Lighting & Lighting Accessories will debut at the AsiaWorld-Expo from October 28 to 31.
More than 4100 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions are expected at the Electronics Fair and electronicAsia, forming what is the world’s largest electronics marketplace. The Electronics Fair will welcome new exhibitors from Poland, Russia, and the UAE. New zones focusing on Smart Tech as well as Robotics and Unmanned Tech will bring fresh dimensions to the event. Familiar favourites are also returning to the show, including the 3D Printing zone and Wearable Electronics zone, which will showcase the latest innovations in the field. The Hall of Fame meanwhile will feature top quality products of more than 510 global brands including Binatone, De’Longhi, Fujikon, oodway, Motorola, Philips, Tunbow and VTech.

One of the hottest trends in the electronics industry, Internet of Things (IoT), will take centre stage at this month’s Electronics Fair. Exhibitors in the Smart Tech zone will feature brands like Intel and Haier, and devices ranging from smart cups, which automatically record nutritional information, to an IoT-enabled smart home device, which can adjust and control an air-conditioner via smartphone. The thematic conference, “IoT Revolution – How does it benefit your business?” to be held on the first day of the fair (October 13) will feature a number of tech leaders sharing their views on the subject, including executives from such tech giants as Samsung, Philips and Hewlett Packard.

Another zone, Robotics and Unmanned Tech, will feature the latest technology including aerial cameras, remote-controlled helicopters, electric scooters and much more.
Product demos, seminars, and buyer forums will connect attendees with the latest technology trends in a wide variety of sectors. On the second and third days of the fair, seminars on the emerging opportunities in the Shenzhen IT ecosystem and consumer electronics business opportunities in India, will update participants on the respective business trends in these tech savvy markets. The Hong Kong Electronic Industry Summit (October 15) on “Future Trends of Robotics” will gather local innovators to examine the future of technology.
Winners of this year’s HKEIA Awards will be honoured by the competition organisers, the Hong Kong Electronic Industry Association Ltd, at the Award Presentation ceremony on October 13. The HKEIA will also host a product demo for the winners on the third day of the fair (October 15). Meanwhile, fair visitors will be able to see live demonstrations of drones on display in the “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle” demonstration area.
In addition to returning zones such as the World of Display Technology and Printed Circuit Board, electronicAsia will also feature a dedicated zone for Keyboards & Switches for the first time. Seminars and forums on the Latest Trends and Applications of Components in Mobility Devices and Opportunities in Emerging Markets will keep stakeholders in touch with the latest developments.
Shining light
This year’s Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) will showcase a record number of more than 2500 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions. New companies from Chile, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles and the United Arab Emirates will all be making their first appearances at the event.
The newest innovations in all areas of the lighting industry will be on display in various thematic zones. The LED & Green Lighting Zone will feature energy-saving and other environmentally friendly products, while zones dedicated to Smart Lighting & Solutions and Advertising Lighting will cater to specific industry sectors. The Hall of Aurora will once again group the biggest industry names together in one convenient place, with Citizen, Fumagalli, Neo-Neon and Seoul Semiconductor among some 500 brands to be featured.

Seminars, forums and other events throughout the fair will spotlight new business opportunities and market information. A seminar on “The Internet of Things: Lighting’s Next Revolution” continues the IoT theme by exploring its application in the lighting industry. The Global Lighting Forum on the fair’s second day will gather industry leaders to discuss recent business trends. Buyer forums and product presentations throughout the fair will give buyers an opportunity to see these developments in action.
This year, a new event will be held specifically for outdoor lighting and related sectors. World of Outdoor Lighting & Lighting Accessories will be staged at the AsiaWorld-Expo from October 28 to 31, featuring some 160 exhibitors displaying the latest products and technology in such areas as street lighting, construction lighting and high bay lighting. Seminars on recent advancements in outdoor lighting as well as the latest standards and regulations for LED Products will be shared by industry experts on the first and second days respectively.
To maximise business opportunities for participants, the World of Outdoor Lighting & Lighting Accessories will be held alongside the Hong Kong International Building and Hardware Fair (October 28-31) and Eco Expo Asia (October 28-31 ) at AsiaWorld-Expo.
Free shuttle bus service between AsiaWorld-Expo and the HKCEC will be arranged (October 28-30) for participants to attend the concurrent events at the two venues.
