M&S Hong Kong to exit Sha Tin

M&S Hong Kong says it will close its store in the Sha Tin New Town Plaza next month.
The British-headquartered department store says it has not renewed its lease on the store, but has declined to explain why.
According to the Apple Daily the store has traded there since 1994, at first on the third floor before moving to the fourth level.
Apple Daily reported there was speculation Apple might be taking over the space for another of its tech stores, but this was unconfirmed.
M&S will exit the store without a stock clearance sale, saying the inventory will be redistributed around the company’s 20-odd other stores in the SAR. The 66-strong staff will also be redeployed in other stores rather than retrenched.
