Singapore’s Commune opens in Macau

Singapore-based furniture retailer Commune has opened its first store in Macau.

The 93 sqm store is located in the Inner Harbour district of Macau and is only about one third the size of the chain’s stores in Mainland China.

In an interview with the Macau Business Daily, Commune Macau operations director Sunny Chang Chio Kit said the company noticed that many Macau residents looking for good quality furniture, especially wooden furniture, usually head to Hong Kong or Mainland China to make their purchase.

“So we thought that Commune could fill the demand gap here, which mainly targets clients searching for mid to high-end home furniture products.”

He said Macau customers can request custom made sofas at the store, which are delivered in 30 days.

“This service is not available in most of the city’s furniture stores as they only offer products off their catalogues.”

Commune already has 15 stores in Mainland China and more are planned.
