Apple Dalian makes 21 in China

Tech giant Apple will open its 21st store in China’s mainland this week.

The Apple Dalian store is located in the Parkland Mall in the southern Liaoning province. It opens at 9.30am on October 24.

Dalian is a wealthy and progressive tier 2 city on China’s east coast. Apple first heralded its entry to the city back in 2012 but it took three years to execute the promise. Until now, the next nearest official Apple store was in Shenyang, some 400km away.

Indonesia base

In other Apple Asia news, a research and development centre has been confirmed for Indonesia.

The nation’s Information and Communication Minister Rudiantara told Chinese news agency Xinhua that Apple wanted to replicate the success of its Brazil R&D centre in Asia, and has chosen Indonesia.

“Apple officers proposed the investment model in Brazil to be implemented in Indonesia. They plan to build R & D centre in Indonesia,” he said.
