The Butchers Club Burger to open in K-11

Butchers club storePopular Wan Chai eatery The Butchers Club Burger plans to open a second eatery – across the harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The news comes as the cafe coincidentally found its way into the latest edition of the revered Michelin Guide, featuring in the new street food section alongside eateries specialising in noodles and Cantonese street fare.
The Butchers Club Burger has taken space inside the popular K-11 Art Mall with the new venue scheduled to open later this month. There are also Butcher Club Burger restaurants in Bali and Singapore – and other related retail venues in Hong Kong, including the Butchers Barrel butchery and wine shop in Mid Levels and Steak Frites restaurant in Central.
The Michelin Guide introduced a new ‘street food’ category for Hong Kong in the new 2016 edition, in order to showcase some of the city’s most distinguished local delicacies that don’t carry a high price tag. International director of Michelin Guide, Michael Ellis, said he thought The Butchers Club’s burgers were “some of the best” he’s had.
Executive chef Aarik Persaud is overwhelmed about achieving such an accolade.
“We are very honoured to have our name up there with so many great Hong Kong restaurants. I am so happy that the guide has extended itself to pay respect not only to the super luxury fine dining establishments, but also to your everyday eateries that normal people patronise. It’s definitely a step in the right direction.”
Jonathan Glover, founder and MD of The Butchers Club, added: “There have already been many doubters coming out of the woodwork suggesting that The Butchers Club Burger should not be listed in the 2016 Michelin Guide. However, if the award has been given based on a product-driven restaurant, then we fully deserve this accolade. We truly do put our heart and soul into producing the very best burger around.”
Glover and his team recently posted an article about their Hogtown burger, which depicts the concept perfectly.
“I am very proud of our team here at The Butchers Club and think that every one of them is deserving of this accolade.”
