Uniqlo tops Singles Day apparel rankings

Uniqlo trounced its fast fashion rivals to finish Singles Day as the number one selling apparel brand this year.

For the second year running Uniqlo achieved top apparel brand ranking in a top 10 chart dominated by tech companies.

The biggest selling brand overall was Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, which pipped rival Huawei. Electronics brand Suning finished third.

Uniqlo’s fourth place was one ranking higher than it finished in 2014.

“For Uniqlo, this year’s sales amounted to more than 600 million Chinese yuan, or approximately US$100 million, double the sales it achieved the year before,” the company said in a statement.

“Uniqlo believes that it could reach these stellar results thanks to the popularity of its products among its large Chinese customer base.”

Uniqlo’s sales growth rate well outclassed the overall Singles Day growth of 60 per cent year on year.

Fast Retailing chairman, president & CEO Tadashi Yanai said the company will accelerate the digitalisation of its business and continue to build and grow its eCommerce, not only in China, but worldwide, to be able to promote Uniqlo and its products to as many customers as possible.
